Using eAuctions

eAuctions can be used to negotiate the commercials surrounding both goods and services and should be considered for use in circumstances where:

  • There is a competitive supply market with surplus capacity
  • The goods or services being bought can be specified
  • The size of award is sufficient to stimulate competition and interest

If these conditions are satisfied, an eAuction should be used and the eAuction service provider engaged at the soonest opportunity so that a project plan can be formulated.

eAuctions are not expensive and can deliver a positive return on your investment in weeks.

Service Provider Role

The level of activity undertaken by the eAuction Service Provider will vary depending on a customer's remit. As a minimum, they may provide the software enabling the customer to run their own eAuction, they may also support the running of an eAuction by providing the hosted software, training all suppliers allowing them to participate, execute and support the 'live' event throughout and return the results to the purchasing authority. This is the lowest level of support offered.

If customers want a higher degree of support including the Service Provider running a complete procurement project culminating in an auction, this can be accommodated.
