Voice Services

Efficient, reliable voice communications are crucial to the effective running of every public sector operation. To cater for this, we provide a full range of voice products and services, including Voice Telephony, Voicemail and Non-Geographic Numbers services.

The MTS managed voice service is based on a PBX platform of interconnected exchanges. These exchanges, or switches are normally housed on customer sites and may support a number of different customer sites. The service is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

The MTS managed telecommunications service is not exclusively for voice traffic. The PBX platform is interconnected via DPNSS leased lines and public/PSTN services. The MTS network is also interconnected with the Cable & Wireless Government Telephone Network (GTN). Many sites are provided with at least two independent circuits to give resilience.

Voicemail Service

'Voicemail' is an additional service that MTS can offer to customers who take the standard extension service. This facility - like an answering machine - permits users to record a personal greeting that invites their callers to leave a message. Callers hear this message whenever that user is absent or unable to take a call. Unlike an answering machine, however, the voicemail system can be configured to alert the mailbox user to the fact that messages are waiting. This can be achieved by sending a different tone to their handset - which they hear whenever they pick up the receiver - or by displaying the phrase "message waiting" on digital enhanced feature handsets with a visual display. Additionally, the system can call another extension (such as a secretary or colleague).

Non-Geographic Number Service

MTS non-geographic number service permits customers to employ and advertise numbers that are not associated with any geographic area in the United Kingdom such as '0800' or '0845'. All calls to these numbers are routed and delivered to locations, or groups of locations, within the MTS network. Typically, these can be used to advertise help-lines, or even a single point of contact for an entire department. A selection of hardware, maintenance and other service options is available, project management and installation. Choose from our full list of standard and additional services, which are structured to suit all circumstances, locations and budgets.
